Wonderland...

... is the best thing about Carnival.
We´re living in a region, where people celebrate Carnival like madmen, for months. I don´t like the music. I don´t like the military attitude some people here have about Carnival. I don´t like standing in the rain for hours. I don´t like the sweets they throw in such ammounts they suffice for years, and I secretly have to throw them away so they won´t infest my children´s teeth with cavity.
But I do like....

Wonderland in my living room.
I love the possibility to finally dress my girls in stuff I made from scratch, without a pattern, that isn´t designed to last for eternity, but just for a few fleeting afternoons of fun. I like marathon sewing sessions that make my head look as if it was short before bursting...

... and I like it when Eva reads her teen magazine psychotests to me, with her freshly showered hair, while she´s waiting for her dress to be finished.
I like feeling bias tape under my fingers...
I like watching Alice dance through the kitchen, as I´m trying to convince her to leave away the underskirt...
I like to apply white make-up on my face...
And dress like one of my alltime favourite creeps:
(Note to self: need to clean that mirror!)

...while the evil queen of hearts needs two servants to fit into the dress...
that turned out, well... slightly tight.
But  nevermind. Carnival is all about the... um.. distracting details anyway...
... and I don´t know where to place this guy...
...but the beard suits him :)

What I wanted to say with this post is: "Hey, look at those awesome costumes! I made them! Yes, I did! I´m incredibly proud, even if they turned out... well... one too big, one too small. But Mine rocked!"
And I even have matching music:
I´d rather have posted another song, actually, "Drink Me" by Anna Nalick, but that wasn´t on youtube, so this one has to do. But it is lovely.
A note to Julia:
I´m sorry I didn´t take the phone when you called, but sent Tim instead. Please don´t feel offended. It was just that I had to write that minute, because it was the first time after quite a while. And you know, sometimes I´m a bit weired about the phone. But keep trying, and I´ll be there.
Thanks so much for the award, I feel honored :) I´m sorry I didn´t react to it yet, but give me some time.
A note to Majka: I´m looking forward to Tuesday.

You can be proud of yourself! The dresses you made are very beautiful! You have such great ideas! Honestly, I hate Fasching, but my kids love it. So I still need to make some dresses for them.
Have a great week!
