We love Taylor Swift.

When I´m saying Eva is a Taylor Swift fan, I might have to add I´m talking about a girl who tried to react the "You belong with me" video in her bedroom when she was seven. A girl that tries to curl her totally flat hair regularly, just to look like Miss Swifty. A girl that knows all, and by all I mean all, of those Taylor Swift lyrics by heart, even though she doesn´t understand half of them. But she wants me to translate them all the time. A girl that read the Taylor Swift biography, whatever biography a 21 year old can have. A girl that actually kisses her posters goodnight.

Eva started telling me she wants to see her heroine live about two years ago. She repeated this wish about twice a week, and though I totally agreed with her - after all I like Taylor Swift, as well, and I love going to concerts even more - I never thought Taylor Swift would actually ever come here. She´s not really well known over here, and her music is hardly played on the radio.

When she announced her two concerts here, I got up at six in the morning to get the best seats for the two of us, shrugging at the price that was three times higher than what I paid for Ingrid Michaelson (who I adore about as much as Eva adores Taylor Swift.)

We counted days. We were lucky she only cancelled the Munich show, but not the one we had tickets for. This last week, Eva really did count the hours. And then, yesterday night...

We went there.
We took the train, listened to - of course - Taylor Swift all day long, and it thrilled me having time and resources to pamper Eva with all things I could think of - Starbucks cake pops...
A shopping trip through the mall...
with lots of window shopping and giggling and trying on clothes...
and sitting down in the bookstore for an hour, reading the first chapters of Percy Jackson, to fill those last, long hours until the magic began:

That was the point I stopped documenting the day in photos. Photos just wouldn´t suffice here, and besides, I had to watch. Moments like this have to be treasured with all senses. Also, photos just don´t suffice to capture Eva´s joy. But I´m glad I have a small video for my self, to smile, smile smile at while watching it:
And I´ll always remember her frantic bouncing and screaming and singing, and the way she told me over and over again that this just can´t be real. Too good. :)

So, my conclusion from last night is: If you intend to make a bucket list, put "Going to a pop concert with my child" on it. It´s pure bliss. I did like the music myself, too. I did enjoy the opening act, even though it was not Needtobreathe, and I was positively surprised by Taylor Swift´s live performing skills. I thought she wasn´t such a good singer, but really, she is. But no matter what, nothing beats seing your child this happy. Nothing.

Ahem. Mom´s putting the Klenex away right now. No, wait. There needs to be music for today, right? Okay, keep the Klenex out. I think, of the many, many songs I always believe to be my favourites, I currently like this one the most:

Because - yes, it was pretty similar being 15, if I remember correctly. Well, the boys over here didn´t have cars. And I never had a thing for football players. But the rest  - so true. I´d like to go back to my 15 year old self and tell her some things. In a few years, my Eva will be there. And I´m sure I´m not able to tell her anything at all. How beautiful and magical life is.

Dear "anonymous": I was 16. At 17, I was practically married ;)
With a daughter on the step to her teenage years, and the past still present in my life, it doesn´t feel so distant to me. Guess it should, though ;)

Hmm... Distance is not always the best option :-) At times confrontation seems much better. Anyhow... Looks like you have a wounderful daughter. Everything turned out pretty good by the looks of it :-) Still waiting for your call or Email btw...

Are you? I wasn´t concious of that. And I´m not taking advices from someone who sounds so obviously biased :)))
But we should really debate that over a nice chai latte - I´ve got no Münster date sceduled yet, but if I have, I´ll tell you. Promised.

She is? That´s quite cool! It´s a shame we live on opposite ends of the world - what great stories about lice and Taylor Swift and dark winters we could exchage over a cup of coffee :)
